Extra Meet - Fairhead N. Ireland - 28 June-5 July |
|
There are four places left on a
trip to Fair Head 28 June-5 July. For those of you unfamiliar with
it, Fair Head is on the Northern Irish coastline, a few miles from
Ballycastle, and boasts some the UK’s most spectacular climbing.
The crag has its own web site. See www.fairheadclimbers.com for pictures/information on routes. The accommodation will be at a lovely old house, Bath Lodge, between Ballycastle and Fair Head, right on the beach with views to the crag, Rathlin Island and Mull of Kintyre. It has sleeping room for up to around 12, and facilities to cook, or there are plenty of takeaway places in Ballycastle, which is only a few minutes away by car or a mile’s walk along the beach. Accommodation should work out around £50 a head. Travel is either by ferry (to Belfast or Larne) or flying to Belfast and hiring cars. Flights from the usual wide range of UK airports (and prices) are available to Belfast. Realistically, to enjoy Fair Head, you need to be able to lead at least HVS/E1. Those already signed up are planning to climb in the range HVS-E4, so if that’s your leading grade, fantastic. If not, you’d need to bring your own climbing partner! First come, first served, £50 payable on booking for accommodation, and we’ll sort out the difference when we’re there.
If you aren’t coming as a pair,
please could you let us know your climbing grade. |
